More than just a house

Fryerning House

Welcome to the Fryerning House web-site in the Essex countryside. It is not only the home of Keith and Rita Brown but also the centre of their charitable and community activities particularly focussed around Fryerning Foundation, the family charity.  Fryerning House has a fascinating history linked to the small Essex village of Fryerning. Lyndsay’s Farm adjoins Fryerning House and it is the home of Keith and Rita’s racehorses while not in formal training. It also offers livery services.

In 2021 Keith published a book REFLECTIONS on his stimulating, interesting and hugely varied life which embraces a successful business career, active involvement in national and local politics, serving as Master and Deacon of  trade guilds in London and Glasgow as well as prominent roles in cricket and horseracing. He recollects his early life in Gidea Park and a golden era of marriage and family life in Ingatestone and Fryerning.

About Us

The Fryerning Foundation

Fryerning Foundation was formed in 2000 by Keith and Rita Brown who, with their daughter Lucy Whittaker, and son Tim Brown are the four trustees. By creating an endowment fund that generates regular income, they have been able to provide regular support to a number of their chosen charities, and also ensure that this will continue in perpetuity. Additionally donations have enabled the range of giving to be broadened.

What We Do

We aim to make a difference to small locally based charities in Essex and East London.

We breed and race successfully, thoroughbred horses.

A ‘full livery’ yard, our trained and competent staff provide the highest level of care for a variety of equine clients.

'Reflections' by Keith Brown OBE

The book REFLECTIONS looks back on a life which has brought so many opportunities and experiences and with the ultimate accolade of an OBE from Prince William at Buckingham Palace in 2015.

Support Fryerning Foundation

In order to maintain the current level of giving, Fryerning Foundation needs to attract donations outside the family. They have raised over £325,000 for local charities since formation in 2001.
